One of the best movie fragments of all time.
Does anyone else just feel like there's something goofy about him? Despite his appearance, he is just not intimidating. I know people are scarier when they are humorous or comedic when they're also psychotic but here it just doesn't work for me. The smiles and odd scripting would not have worked in the movie's favor for me. Just wondering if anyone else feels that way?
I dunno, I kinda like the voice of this evil figure. It has a low tone, not scary, not intimidating, but fearsome. Like the Protoss of Starcraft 2.

This movie invented the execution of diverting the intensity of an emotional or hype scene by a funny remark(in a big movie franchise).Thanks Gimli! You only do this when you really trust you script. Otherwise, a mediocre script would prefer to milk that emotional scene as much as they can before it disappears. LOTR simply diverts it itself, because of how much they trust their material! Now, Avengers franchise is doing it!

This scene is hair raising, when you realize one of the historical event Tolkien based it on was the charge of the Winged Hussars, it’s even more incredible. They beautifully captured in fiction one of the coolest battle moments in real history.
